Building Engineering (BE) is an interdisciplinary program with multi-disciplined engineering approach. Building Engineering Department (BED) is acknowledged as one of the leading Building Engineering programs in Palestine. BED is dedicated to provide outstanding academic excellence to all of our students. The BE program is focused on preparing students in the design, engineering, and construction of building projects.
The most important difference between Building Engineering and other engineering disciplines (e.g. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering), is the multi-disciplined approach to solving building engineering problems. This is because Building Engineers have some fundamental training and appreciation of architecture in addition to their ability to integrate building systems in the overall building design. Building Engineers are able to design building systems such as:
- Structural and construction systems.
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
- Passive Solar systems
- Plumbing.
- Fire Protection systems.
- Electrical and lighting systems.
- Vertical transportation systems.
