The Department of Telecommunication Engineering was established in 2008 as part of the ‎Faculty of engineering and information technology at An-Najah National University offering ‎Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering, with the aim to produce highly ‎qualified, skilled, well-rounded and motivated graduates possessing fundamental knowledge ‎of Telecommunication engineering, who can compete locally and internationally.

The ‎objectives and mission of the department are set to conform to those of the Faculty, ‎University and to meet the related ABET requirements. Education in the department is ‎carried out in modern classrooms, equipped with the latest technological facilities and ‎laboratories, where a teaching medium is created for the lecturers and students to interact ‎efficiently and effectively.

The study plan was updated in 2013. It has 161 credit hours.‎There are currently 200 students, 12 full time teaching staff, 7 lab assistants and one ‎secretary.

The Telecommunication Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Through the ABET accreditation, students are expected to attain 7 Student Outcomes (SOs), which are set by ABET Organization. These SOs are linked to the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), which describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation, and these are consistent with the mission of An-Najah National University. The ABET accreditation process is managed by the ABET Center.
