The principles of Digital Signal Processing can be explained and demonstrated through laboratory experiments. Experiments cover an introduction to the Lab Instruments, Building Several modulation and demodulation technique (ASK,BPSK,FSK,...), how to build FIR and IIR filtering via coding and Matlab simulink, how to cancel noise and echo in signals using adaptive filter, implementation of DFT , FFT and DTMF and finally how to make error correction mechanism using hamming code.

The objective of this lab is to have the:

  • Ability to use DSP processor in the design of communication systems, speech processing, image processing, digital filtering (FIR, IIR), spectral estimation.
  • Ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through the various lab reports.
  • Ability to design real system using DSP processor via Matlab Simulink interface Software.

Experiments that will take place are:

  • Introduction and project creation.
  • Waveform generation and sampling.
  • ASK, BPSK and FSK modulation and demodulation.
  • QPSK modulation and demodulation.
  • FIR filtering.
  • IIR filtering.
  • Adaptive filtering and noise cancellation spectral estimation.
  • Audio Effects (Echo and Reverb, Harmonics, and Distortion).
  • Echo cancelling and voice scrambling.
  • DFT and FFT implementation.
  • Hamming Codes.
  • Dual-Tone Multi frequency DTMF.
