Electrical Power systems lab is one of the most developed labs in the ‎electrical engineering department.

It is equipped with many advanced ‎apparatuses and devices to make all of the important tests on power ‎systems starting from generation units with control panel and protection ‎equipment passing through the transmission lines to  unit loads with power ‎factor correction panel.‎

The main aims of this lab:‎

  1. Linking the theoretical part of power systems with the practical part.‎
  2. Provide the students with practical experience with real practical power ‎systems devices and equipment.‎
  3. Doing analysis on real power systems starting from generation unit till to ‎the load unit.‎

The name of experiments:‎

  1. Introduction to power systems lab.‎
  2. Motor – generator unit.‎
  3. Transmission line at no load.‎
  4. Protection relays.‎
  5. T.L performance under different load ‎conditions.
  6. Parallel operation of two generators.‎
  7. Series parallel operations of power transmission lines under load.‎
  8. Parallel connection of a three-phase Synchronous Generator with the ‎public mains.‎
  9. Studying the operation of a power transmission line in condition of ‎ground fault.‎
  10. Power factor correction by using synchronous compensator.‎
  11. Power factor correction by using C – PF/EV panel.‎
  12. Studying the operation of protection relays including distance protection ‎relays on a power system.‎
  13. The operation of an overall power system.‎
