An-Najah National University showcased its commitment to sustainable development by participating in the Aqaba International Engineering Conference, held from February 22 to 23, 2023 in Jordan.

The conference gathered engineers and experts to discuss crucial issues related to natural disasters, sustainability, green building, and risk reduction. The University was represented by Dr. Mutasim Baabaa, a lecturer in the Department of Building Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. He also represented the Engineers Association and the Palestine Green Building Council as the University's representative in the council.

Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Al Hassan bin Talal, the participants shared lessons learned from recent earthquakes that have affected Turkey and Syria, and discussed strategies to increase the safety and sustainability of buildings and urban areas.

On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Baabaa held meetings with several participants, including the President of the Jordanian Engineers Association, and researchers from the University of Jordan and international institutions. They discussed potential areas of collaboration.

The conference featured keynote speakers from both Jordan and abroad who commended the University’s contribution to regional cooperation in earthquake monitoring, disaster reduction, and the promotion of sustainable development and green building practices.

"We are proud to have participated in the Aqaba International Engineering Conference, which serves as an important platform for showcasing our commitment to sustainable development and our partnerships with various entities and institutions seeking to achieve this goal," said Dr. Baabaa.
