The Department of Urban Planning Engineering at An-Najah National ‎University held a workshop in partnership with a group of urban and ‎regional planning institutions.‎


The workshop aimed to celebrate the World Town Planning Day, and strengthen the relationship and partnerships between the University's Department of Urban Planning Engineering and local and international urban and regional planning institutions.

The workshop included several activities, which aimed to create a space in which all planners and community stakeholders can join together to promote and spread awareness of the importance of the profession of urban planning and the role of urban planners in the modern society as active implementers bridging facilitation and consensus building.

The workshop was attended by planning professionals, academics and university students to raise awareness of the importance of planning for sustainable communities.

It included discussions on how to link the education policy to the labor market outcomes, the policies which the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology administer at An-Najah University to prepare students to enter the labor force, as well as to equip them with the skills to engage in lifelong learning experiences, and the role and impact of public-private partnerships in education.

Moreover, the workshop discussed the value of planning for creating sustainable and healthy places and discuss local and international examples as well as ideas for promoting healthy urban planning.

A group of the Department of Urban Planning Engineering's students gave presentations about their practical projects which involved geospatial technology to diagnose and solve problems in some Palestinian cities.
