The Mechatronics Engineering program at An-Najah National University enrolled its ‎first class of students in 2008 and has continuously operated since that time. In 2011 ‎‎(the first graduation for the mechatronics program). The mechatronics engineering ‎emphasizes core topics of mechatronics systems, technologies-computer, software, ‎advanced control, sensors and actuators. Support topics are included to the ‎mechatronics engineering curriculum as engineering statistics, economics, computing, ‎graphics and technical communication. Additionally, support courses in mathematics ‎and science are also included. In 2010 the Mechatronics Engineering curriculum has ‎been refined to better serve the student population and to maintain a continuous ‎improvement of the overall educational experiences. ‎

The Mechatronics program can build up an educated engineer who can blend all types ‎of modern technology and provide it to the society to have a respective enhancement ‎in the development.

The Mechatronic program integrate four different Engineering ‎programs these programs are Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ‎Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering which effect positively to the ‎mechatronics students and create a graduate engineer that has the ability for taking an ‎advanced-important position in the development of the local and international society.‎

The study plan is available for students in the internet and head of department office. ‎It consists of 161 credit hours distributed in ten semesters.

This plan is divided into 18 ‎credit hours of university requirement courses, 132 credit hours of obligatory courses, ‎‎9 credit hours of elective courses, and 2 credit hours of free courses. The teaching and ‎learning methods are lectures inside the classroom: these lectures include presented the ‎lectures on the class board or using power point software or using both of them ‎together. Moreover, quizzes, homework and course project are included too. ‎Additionally, the assessment criteria are including course exams: first, second and ‎final exams. Also include the quizzes and homework and courses projects.

The graduate students of the Mechatronics engineering program can work all factories ‎as engineering designer or engineering maintenance, or engineering production lines. ‎Also in vehicles companies, government institutions, elevator companies and all types ‎of CNC machines and all Robotics types. ‎

The program has a cooperation agreement with Padico Holding Company. This ‎agreement allows students to visit different sites of the company‏ ‏and use different ‎facilities. In addition some joined graduation projects are usually held out in ‎Palestinian Industrial Investment Company which is one branch of Padico Company. ‎Moreover, different graduation projects are cooperation with local industrial ‎companies. However, the program is accredited by accreditation and quality bodyeng.najah.edu/en/study/departments/mechatronics-engineering/program-objectives-and-student-outcomes/ in ‎the Ministry of higher education in Palestine.

The Mechatronics Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Through the ABET accreditation, students are expected to attain 7 Student Outcomes (SOs), which are set by ABET Organization. These SOs are linked to the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), which describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation, and these are consistent with the mission of An-Najah National University. The ABET accreditation process is managed by the ABET Center.
