Building Engineering (BE) is an interdisciplinary program with multi-disciplined engineering approach. Building Engineering Program is acknowledged as one of the leading Building Engineering programs in Palestine. BEP is dedicated to provide outstanding academic excellence to all of our students. The BE program is focused on preparing students in the design, engineering, and construction of sustainable and energy efficient buildings. Our students are trained on using different simulation programs related to each of previous aspects.

The most important difference between Building Engineering and other engineering disciplines (e.g. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering), is the multi-disciplined approach to solving building engineering problems. This is because Building Engineers have some fundamental training and appreciation of architecture in addition to their ability to integrate building systems in the overall building design. Building Engineers are able to design building systems such as:

  • Structural and construction systems.
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
  • Passive Solar systems.
  • Sustainable building.
  • Plumbing.
  • Fire Protection systems.
  • Electrical and lighting systems.
  • Vertical transportation systems.
  • Building construction management.

The Building Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Through the ABET accreditation, students are expected to attain 7 Student Outcomes (SOs), which are set by ABET Organization. These SOs are linked to the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), which describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation, and these are consistent with the mission of An-Najah National University. The ABET accreditation process is managed by the ABET Center
